THE OLD FORGE
The Old Forge is the 375 year old heart of the village. This ancient blacksmith’s smithy and cottage, with its roaring forge, red brick, thatched roof, work benches, wooden beams, outbuildings and magical garden is now the home of Smithy Art Forgery. Art, jewellery, lectures, music, and poetry now inhabit the Smithy and the garden’s yurt, AKA The Temple of Transcendence, is the venue for multiple spiritual and wellbeing experiences. With a wood burning stove, events are winter friendly. With an additional marquee during the Spring and Summer, the garden transforms for mini cultural festivities.

Your host, Guy, opens his home for monthly week long retreats where events and wholesome food and drinks are all included (see Wiltshire Weeks). The house kitchen and smithy are sometimes transformed into a licensed bar for a maximum of 50 lucky souls. Named after the infamous local stone monument, The Devil’s Den Bar & Club is a focus for local performers, whether literary, musical or spiritual, and their fans. Look on the Calendar for upcoming events so you book your stays around your chosen favourites. Individual rooms for couples, groups or families may be available last minute (see Rooms) if House and Wiltshire Weeks are not already sold out.

If the Wiltshire Weeks are too much of a holiday commitment, the entire house is available for groups of 6-9 people for 2 nights or more through the Airbnb link below. Have a look at the Calendar and book your relaxing break around your chosen events.
Additional wellbeing (see Events) can be organised directly with the relevant guides or guy@thesmithy.gallery. Guy serves home cooked food (including vegan options) at most events.
In addition for staying guests, whether breakfast, lunch or supper, he is happy to cook for you all during your stay (see Menu). Please also ask him for recommendations for any cafes, pubs and restaurants should you wish to eat out in.
